SAFRA Runway Cycling and Skating

Skateline is proud to be the official skate partner of the National Runway Cycling and Skating event for the 4th year running.

About 120 skaters who registered with us via sms and e-mail prior to the event, received their commemorative shirts from our booth as early as 7.30am, when the gates were opened to the public. And soon after, the shirts were all swept off by them.



It was a great sight to see many skaters wearing our colour, and skating the 15km route from 9am onwards. We started out as a group, but soon we were all over the route, as our skaters took on different speeds. The initial showers in the morning threatened the event, but thankfully the sun was out to dry the ground. Though the ground was wet, but it did not dampen the spirits of the huge turnout of cyclists and skaters, as they took to the runway.

It was a cruising route, challenging at some areas where we had to tackle wet surfaces, but nonetheless, relaxing in its own ways. Back at the stage area, the skaters from Team Micro, who were invited by us, put on a dazzling displays of freestyle skating and inline slides.

Other performances were going on as well, including cheerleading, precision drill demonstrations, bands, and people from the SAF Music and Drama company as they sang and danced.

This year, Skateline included a mini challenge course, which allowed skaters to have some fun. Each time 2 participants have to compete against each other as they skate through the various obstacles, which includes jumping, squatting, slalom and sharp cornering. Even kids had fun tackling the course.

Over at our booths, skates and lessons were on sale. We included rental services as well, which saw a good response as people who did not have skates found an option at our booth.

We want to thank all the people who supported Skateline in the event, and had fun skating with our Instructors and Volunteers!
