SNS January 2008 Report: MacRitchie Reservoir to Bishan Park

Skateline welcomed skaters in our first SNS in 2008, by starting off with our January SNS - from MacRitchie Reservoir to Bishan Park 2!

Approximately 40 skaters turned up for this SNS. We started off at around 8pm, with our SAVs: Jason, Eng Keong, Choon Seng, Daren, David and Raymond helping out to marshal the skaters along the way.

The initial part was a staggering climb from the carpark, up along Reservoir Rd until we reach the main road. It was a really steep slope, and everyone had a great 'warm-up' after the climb.

After that, it was a fun and exciting ride along the pavement of the reservoir, along Lornie Rd. It was challenging as the skaters had to deal with obstacles, for e.g. twigs, fallen branches and even plants sticking out from the sides. It was a good test of their skate control and situation awareness, despite the dim lightings and glaring lights from the vehicles on the road.

The slopes proved to be a right choice when I chose this route as we cruised and zoomed by the reservoir. We then headed along Upper Thomson Rd and had a short break at a petrol kiosk before we continued again. The journey was relatively short, but it was nice skating past food places and shops, where people were having their meals. I'm sure that some of them must have been tempted by the fun that we're having and wished they were with us.

Eventually, we reached Bishan Park 1, and skated all the way to Bishan park 2. Over at the skating rink, the skaters had the chance to share their skating skills with each other, and had lots of fun skating around.

Tags and souvenirs were handed out to every skater, for them to pen down their new year resolutions. The tags are being pinned on a board at out retail shop and you can catch a glimsp of it if you happen to drop by.

Overall, this was a short but sweet SNS, and I am glad that it caters to the advanced beginners. Be sure to check our website regularly for more news about our SNS, and the next one to look forward to in February.
