Prep Courses for EzyHealth City Skate 2009

The EzyHealth City Skate event has been cancelled, please see the official news on http://www.ezyhealthcityskate.com

As such, we will stop admitting Prep Course participants from 2009 June 30. Participants who have already registered for the Prep Course as on 2009 June 30 will be allowed to continue with the course as registered. Terms and conditions apply.


COURSE 1: Slopes and Stopping Clinic

1 session x 1hour
For self-taught skaters who can skate, but can’t stop effectively or handle slopes. This course prepares skaters to handle basic urban obstacles and slopes that may be encountered along the EzyHealth City Skate route.

Course content:
•    Assessment of skater’s skill level and fine-tuning
•    Revision on stopping with heel brake
•    Assessment on urban skating ability
•    Speed control down slope with heel brake
•    Negotiating stairs and curbs

COURSE 2: Program for total beginners

4 session x 1 hour
For total beginners or those who can skate but can’t do the basic stop or turn.

Course content:
•    Proper use of protective gear
•    Essential on-skate balance skills
•    Fall avoidance postures, and injury minimizing fall technique
•    How to skate properly
•    How to stop safely with heel brake
•    How to turn effectively around a corner or U-turn

How to book your Prep Course
Note: Prep courses are only for skaters who have already registered for EzyHealth City Skate 2009, and have indicated that they want to take a Prep Course.

Complete Skateline’s Skater Registration Form online

This is required for indemnity/release and insurance coverage during the prep course. On completion, a Skater Indemnity Form will be displayed; a copy will also be emailed to you. You need to print out this form, sign it, and present it when attending the prep course. On the form, there is a Registration Reference Number, you need this reference number to book the Prep Course in STEP 3.

STEP 3
Click on the slot you want to book. When doing so, sign in with:
User name: your email address used to register for EzyHealth City Skate 2009
Password: “ecs2009prep”
Fill in the required information, including the Registration Reference Number in the Skater Indemnity Form.

Complete your booking!

STEP 5:
Turn up early for the Prep Course in the day you booked! Be sure to see the “Important Notes for Attendees” below.


Important Notes for Attendees:

1. When attending the Prep Course, you MUST bring along

(1) a printed copy of your EzyHealth City Skate email receipt
(2) the signed Skater Indemnity Form.
You will only be admitted if you have both documents.

2. Be on time! Our instructors start the lesson punctually, you don’t want to hold up the class. Instructors reserve the right to refuse attendance to late skaters.

3. If you booked a Prep Course but don’t attend, it will be deemed forfeited, you won’t be allowed to book again. If you can’t attend, be sure to sign in again and change the booking more than 1 day in advance.

4. Bring your own skates and gear if you have them.

5. Full gear (helmet, wrist, elbow and knee protectives) are mandatory during the Prep Course. If you don’t have any gear, they are available to you rent-free.

6. In the case of rain or wet weather, the prep course will be automatically cancelled. Participants will then be informed to re-book a course from the timetable, subject to availability. If you are not sure of the status of a course, please call Skateline Bishan Park at 64533939 on the day of the course.

7. You can change a booking more than 1 day in advance. Simply log in, delete your booking and make another one. You can't change a booking less than 24 hours in advance.

8. Attending the Prep Course(s) constitutes an acceptance of the Terms and Conditions.


Terms and conditions:
Only participants who have registered for EzyHealth City Skate 2009 (“ECS”) are admitted. Participants must present printed copy of event registration receipt when attending a session or the first session.    •    Vacancies are limited and subject to availability.    •    Vacancies are allotted on a first-come-first served basis.    •    Participants must register for course online, print out the Skater Indemnity Form and present the signed copy during the first session.    •    Courses are based on a schedule, which are subject to change.    •    Limited to one course per participant. Participants who attended the Beginner’s Program can register for the Slopes and Stopping clinic, subject to availability.    •    Participants who have booked a session but did not turn up are deemed to have forfeited the session. They will not be admitted to subsequent sessions.     •    Skateline Pte Ltd (“Skateline”) does not make any guarantees on the performance of the Participant as a result of the completion of any course.
